Loving, sacred care for the organ that sustained your baby

Your placenta is not medical waste -- It’s the vital, living bridge that fused you and baby together as one single being.

At Love.Our.Mothers, I offer both placenta honoring and encapsulation services in support of families who want to demonstrate their gratitude for this powerful organ with care, respect, and intention. Whether you're looking to ease your postpartum transition or to ritually close the portal of birth, I offer options that meet you where you’re at—spiritually and practically.

For families who want to honor the spiritual aspect of the placenta, I offer deep and open discussions about the myriad of meaningful ways you might consider demonstrating your respect.

Some very common honorings families choose include:

  • Family-centered cord cutting or burning

  • Lotus birthing in deep mindfulness

  • Prayerful washing, bathing, or herbal anointing

  • Burial or planting in a sacred place

  • Memorialized art, such as a print, cord spiral, or jewelry

All discussions are free of charge and available to anyone inquiring, with or without contracted doula or lactation services in place. Participation or facilitation of rituals may incur a small fee if requested as a stand-alone service, or as an add-on to preestablished care, depending on how simple or elaborate your plans might be.

Placenta honorings will most often take place in your home or in a location of your choosing, with you present. Under certain extraordinary circumstances, services can be provided by proxy with the utmost care and accompanying documentation. You are strongly encouraged to provide a level of active participation in any such services, if at all possible.

Placenta encapsulation involves cleaning, dehydrating, and grinding the placenta into capsules for ingestion during the early postpartum period, or even after for special moments when that particular medicine might be desired.

While research is still emerging, recipients (including myself) report noticeable emotional and physical benefits from taking their capsules. Many families choose encapsulation to support:

  • Hormonal rebalancing after the sudden, sharp drop post-birth

  • Stabilization of energy levels and mood

  • Increased milk production and elevation of oxytocin levels to increase desire for the closeness required with bodyfeeding

  • Emotional and spiritual integration between being your previously-pregnant and now non-pregnant state

For my practice, I strongly prefer that the entirety of my placenta encapsulation services take place in your home so that you are never separated and can be 100% assured of its care and handling.

Although you are not required to watch closely, I am incredibly transparent about each step, much moreso than you might find most other encapsulation professionals to be. I prefer to demystify the process in a way that empowers you to be able to do this for yourself at a future time, or to offer this same service as a gift to others in your community.

I highly encourage whole-family involvement, especially for older children who are close to entering their reproductive era, or for any family members or close relations who may be interested in birthwork.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Placenta services are offered to clients who give birth at home, and at birth centers and hospitals, as long as your placenta is released. You are responsible for obtaining custody of your placenta from your birth location. Not all facilities routinely release placentas so please check ahead of time. You are responsible for making sure your placenta is stored properly in between the time of birth and services. I cannot encapsulate any placenta that shows signs of infection or improper storage.

Certain placenta services may have a much closer range of availability areas, potentially limited to 30-minute radius of my location, including the communities of Eugene-Springfield, Junction City, Dexter-Lowell-Fall Creek, Cottage Grove, and Veneta. If you live outside of this range, certain travel fees may incur, please inquire.

If I’m not able to provide certain services at all, I am more than happy to seek out referrals for someone else who would be better able to help.
